"The coffeehouse lowered its occupancy timer again, but you've got a term paper to write! Consider, there is a place where you can sit undisturbed for hourse on end, within 2 minutes' walk of the sum total of all knowledge in the known universe, but you have to bring your own coffee. Yes, that's right--it's the Library!"

Well, there is a coffeemaker on the premises, but it's supposed to be for employees only.

Built in the '50s and apparently modernised in the '90s, this library contains bits and pieces of all the various libraries I've ever been to (except the front desk area, which was the only bit that I liked from a smaller library I built back when I got the game in 2014. The basement missed the modernisation, however, and still looks like it did in the '50s. They hide the periodicals down there, as well as the archiving office.

The weird inaccessible void room behind the basement restroom contains the required chess table, which I didn't feel was particularly relevant to the aesthetic I was trying to create. I've never been to a library with a purpose-built chess table, so I didn't put one in. Simple.
