umm... I have 2,345 mods. Impossible to give you a list.

What is really essential is the mods that stop your hood and game blowing up. These are known simply as the essential mods. There are some list, but most of those lists contain unessential mods depending on play style. For example, if you want a game with no townies certain mods to stop that will be essential, but if you want townies and like the game making them for you, you won't want them at all.

1) The BatBox. This is a box (PS. I just uploaded it on Tumblr as a vase) that has a heap of fixing option on it.

2)No Sim Loaded +Smarter EP check. NSL burns of tokens and fixes stuff. It prevents a bug called the Super Duper Hug. That mod and a few others require the Smarter EP check to work. NSL is a mod that you never pull out. It's actually the pulling out of certain mods that causes that SDH bug. I place mine in a 'Do Not remove' folder.

3) No Unlink on delete and no corrupt death. These two mods are to do with graves/urns of dead sims. The big thing with TS2 is corruption and death is one of those areas.
Talking of corruption and this isn't a mod at all but gameplay. EA left buttons in the game that can break your hood. never ever use the buttons that let you move an occupied house into the bin, never delete sims and never move them between hoods. EG between Pleasantview and Strangetown. The way TS2 is set up this breaks data and corrupts your hoods leading to disappearing sims, strange bugs and eventually to hoods that don't load or just up and disappear. Also never try and make certain NPC sims selectable. They will have strange names and they won't have proper pie menus.

4) creaturefixes if you plan to play creature sims like vampires.

http://modthesims.info/t/532696 Not all are essential.

After the essential fixes there are mods that change gameplay and mods that fix annoyances or might be annoyances. Those vary to player opinion. I would suggest playing vanilla for a little while to get a feel for the game before altering things.

Cindy has a good list of some of the major mods that many people use.

I disagree with the unofficial patch, that isn't needed anymore and breaks date cards

I am interested in this, Jo! Have you got a link to your tumblr? I'd love to have a vase instead of a box. Thanks for creating it. :lovestruc

Here: https://joplayingthesims.tumblr.com/ Only one note says it was already done back in 2008! I could only find tutorials when I went looking. Is there some way to reply to notes? I'm a Tumblr noob, I find the place very confusing.

I knew of that but didn't want it as it wasn't suitable for my sunny beach type hood.
