Default Anyone remember the Flying UFO mod?
You guys know that mod that replaces a helicopter with a ufo?
https://balkopat.tumblr.com/post/66...7872/flying-ufo

I want to replace the UFO with a jet. I found a 3D model of a jet I like to replace the UFO with. How do I go about this in SIMPE? Would it be complicated to do?

The creator of the mod mentions that they cloned the Helicopter to make their object. So you would clone the helpcopter and replace the mesh with your jet mesh. Then you'd need to deal with the animations of doors and sim getting in. Have you created objects before?

No. I can only convert a 3d object from a website into Sims 2. I don't know how to make objects from scratch.

So have you done this before? I'm trying to ascertain what kind of tutorials to link you to, but that depends on your current knowledge!

Anyway, there should be something here that will help:
Tutorials:Basic Object Creationwiki
Skip any bits that describe actually meshing the object and instead substitute your downloaded mesh.

No, I have never done it before. Might be a bit too complicated for me.

Simslice, I do believe, had a flyable UFO-you might check the Booty.

@FranH I do believe they are trying to replace the Helicopter with a Jet plane, not a UFO.

@fourleafcloverr22 You need to look at the tutorials I linked then, and start off by creating some basic objects. There's quite a lot to learn with creating custom vehicles I think, as the sims need to be able to interact with them and they have opening doors and animated parts.

Looks like they want to make a drivable jet plane with the function of the helicopter.

It's basically how you'd make a car work (a helicopter is a type of vehicle - it moves, it has the same functions, it needs openable doors, etc.)

There's a tutorial spesifically on cars/vehicles here: https://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=96995
(I'm almost sure I saw one for cars, with pictures, that showed how to connect up the skeleton, but I can't find it. There's however one here that explains the process in a bit more detail than the car tutorial, if not spesifically for cars: https://modthesims.info/t/433766 )

You can't do much with the animation, though - the jet plane would still take off and land like a helicopter.

Thanks for that link @simmer22 I knew there must be a car tutorial somewhere!
