Technical notes

The Pattern Packager basically constructs up the various XML files that the game needs to add a pattern to the in-game libraries. These XML files are:

0x0334406c texture parts and compositor
0xd4d9fbe5 patternlist
0x73e93eeb package manifest
0x00b2d882 dds file for pattern (256x256, up to 4 colour channels)

They are linked together via the name of the package, and the various instance ids.

What is the decal option for?

Basically what this does is turn off the "Background Colour Fill" option - and this, in conjunction with a properly setup DDS file (ie the Red channel being BLACK not White), allows for a pattern "decal" to be made - that is, a pattern that will layer on top another pattern. The one caveat is that when you do Create a Style on the object/item again, it will lose the decal so the decal will have to be applied again.

Decals could be used for, example, stains, or white chalk outlines, or other amusing yet neccesary additions to the Sims lives.

Amazing work on this. While I'm suffering from a bad case of Sims 3 envy at the moment, I am pre-learning what I can.

Thank you again, and again, and aga.......

I got an error with mine... for some reason I can't get the texture to save as, thanks for your hard work though. I'm glad someone came out with this, so we can customize our textures.

Works very nice. Just 1 thing: Once the package is imported in game the colours are... weird, not what i choose in the program. Well not too bad as i can modify in game.

For explaning better my color issue I make this pic. Is a test on a fur pattern I make in Photoshop CS4, uses either 3 or 4 channels, no matter the results are the same:

http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/1766/testpattern.jpg

I found weird values on RGB of each "piece" of pattern, should be on 0-255 range but i found a 700 green and a minus value. Then i set the colors how i put in your program.
Can be because my TS3 is Italian?

700 green and minus? That sounds... odd. Could you send me the .package file that has those?
