I had a Lacey Leelaporn. She was a dormie who wormed her way into being playable by conveniently sitting next to my playable while she noticed her ex fiancé had already moved on, and became one of the characters best friends.

Currently, I also have a Douglas Fuchs, Caryl Fuchs, Prof. Zeeshan Leelaporn, and Prof. Justin Leelaporn.

Abhijeet. And Allyn.

Okay, my last rebuild-and-generate-new-townies wasn't all that recently, but I swear every third townie is now named either Abhijeet or Allyn. I had a family adopt a kid recently, and she was an Allyn too.

I've had a few "Fuchs" in my game, and I've decided that they pronounce it FEWks. (One syllable, but uneven emphasis.) Of course, nobody outside the family does...

It is pronounced "Fyooks." There was a guidance counselor at my Jr High with that name and she made a point to tell us how it was pronounced. She said she got weird calls at night sometimes.

Mootilda talked about this and mentioned that there was a potential problem with the name randomizer, something about not being "seeded correctly", or was that about the genetics randomizer only? Hmm..., not sure.

Today a townie with the family name "Corruption" was generated.

I laughed. xD

Actually Fuchs is a German name and you pronounce it with emphasis on the H. The U is short in that name.

It's like F-ou-hh-s.

A police officer showed up to shut down a party in my Strangetown...and his last name was Mace! Cracked me up, and I tried to get the ugly almost-adult adopted daughter to chat with him, but he left before she could. Pity, I would have liked to marry her off to Officer Mace... His first name was something normal, so it didn't stick in my mind.

Also, there are two Vicki Horowitzs (or whatever that name is...I tend to forget the almost-normal names, except for Tellerman, which I think is cute) in this same Strangetown. One is an obnoxious little townie girl with long blond hair and a red dress, the other is a short-haired nanny. And guess what? Circe Beaker's son with her townie lover (Loki died of either flu, the mysterious illness, or a combination of both) knows both of them! The nanny is his nanny, and he had some kind of argument with the girl when he was lonely, Circe was busy, and she was walking by. It freaked me out when I hovered over them in his relationship panel and saw they had the same name...I thought it was some horrible glitch for about three seconds, before I remembered that that can happen...

EDIT: I checked when I played last night, and the name is Vicki Hourvitz! Ok, what kind of last name is that?

While using the cleaned up templates, I had a Sim generate with the name "Henrik Frettesche". It's funny because "frettesche" has been used as a Simlish word before.

We all have to look for answers somewhere. Some in big ol' books, others in big ol' bottles of whiskey.

I once had a Goopy Love in my game! And I know it's not pronounced how it looks, and is probably a common name, but I still laugh at the last name Fuchs!!

While in SimPE just now, I noticed a townie named Rod Cox. Think about it...

I have a delivery lady with my first name.
Sometimes the stray dogs have hilarious names. Like one was called 'little bucket'. (I translated it) My game is in Dutch so its real name there is Emmertje.
Probably I have more fun names but usually I don't bother with by the game generated characters so that I don't know.

I have a default name list so it stops making sims with stupid names and one of the sims has my first name. Of course she ended up marrying a Landgraab so I have to see 'myself' every time I'm at their house xD

I didn't realise Leelaporn was elusive! There's about three different Leelaporns running round my 'hood at the moment, including Marsha Leelaporn who is rather posh looking.

I've also got a Houston McCarthy, which just sounds like a fantastic name!

I installed the notownieregen hack a while ago, but after I installed most (if not all) of the EPs. I've been noticing quite a few "new" names recently, but I've checked the number of character files and it's only grown in line with the new births, so I assume that the game cycles through a batch at a time.

Ah, thanks for that, I always pronounced Fuchs to rhyme with 'ducks'

I've had a Joe Carr, who seems to be stalking my sims as he's everywhere.

I've noticed besides the names that come with the game (or with a name template hack) sometimes the game will give new townies names (both 1st and family - though not likely both at once) that you've used for your own sims - even in other neighborhoods.

If you have SimPE, and want to have some fun, or at least I call it fun! Spend sometime re naming the townies. Sure, you miss out the intital random generator, which can give you funny names, but at least you can control how many Marylena Hamilton's you have in your game. By doing this, I have very few duplicate first and last names. For instance I now have for uni cafeteria cooks named Cookie, and Snookie. I left Goopy and Komei alone, but I changed Kennedy Cox to Barney Cox, the name is too nice, for a guy like him. I may go back and change the two Ivy Copours? I changed one of the AL townies to Dick, because he's always kicking my trash can over, no matter where I put it. Good times can be had if you want to play around!

I have one of the name hacks so that the vast majority of the names generated are ones that are common in the Western world (ie no Abhijeets, Goopys, etc.)

I keep getting Llama Mascots named Wyatt.

I have at least three or four running around, in both of my hoods.

I have a different name template, and I ended up having a Sara Sidle, Nick Stoakes, and Greg Sanders all in one hood. Needless to say I made them selectable and placed them in either the Science career or law enforcement. I loved it!

Richard Cranium.

That was actually a nickname for a former co-worker of ours, whose name was Dick. Think about it.

We used to call each other that back in Jr high - 1980s. I even managed to get a character named "Richard von Cranium" in a class movie for German class.

It's a unisex name, especially in Ireland. It means 'wise one'.

Meh, too many names are unisex or becoming unisex. Before long people will scratch their heads and wonder what's wrong with a boy named Sue.

Well, names have a tendency to cross gender lines anyway.

Like how Ashley is originally a guy's name, but in the late 20th century, it became a popular girl's name. Hence why Ashley Pitts is named as such.

Also, Shannon has no indication on what gender it is, besides the fact that it uses a 'sh' sound, which I notice most English speaking cultures attribute to a more feminine sound. The whole kiki-bouba thing.
